A Day of Work!!!

And boy did we!!!

We got approval to build our shed, so we had to prepare a few things. The original plan called for the driveway to extend to the middle of the property, which is in total 1.6 acres.  The driveway currently is in place, but incorrectly. We will fix that next year. This time, we laid out the entire plan with flags and will add a rock line so the contractor will know exactly where we want things.

To begin the shed project, we also needed to be able to move the materials to the location we want to put the shed.  That location will be at the new RV pad that will not be completed till next year. So we had to clear the way for me to drive the truck. While our property is fairly flat we do have some rocks, sage bushes  and a bit of a slope from the existing driveway to remove.

While Lisa does the hard work I am off to build the shed!!!

The plans for the flooring. Our shed will be a small 8x8 storage shed, next year we may build larger but for now this is all we need.

The wood for the floor and base.

Pre-cutting all the wood.

I pre-drilled all the holes and used screws and nails to build the base.

I used a technique from (I believe) "Handyman's Magazine" on building a squared flooring foundation.
You build the framing on top of the underlayment to make sure you stay square.  It worked for us; it is perfect.

The base flooring is ready to go.  We will attach the underlayment after we move it to the proper location.

Next task is the roof and building the trusses.  That's for another day.

We decided also to build some sign\light posts at the end of our driveway and we did it Rim Rock style, which is a wire cage filled with rocks.

We worked hard and it was a hot day up to 96, but we had our reward!!!
